Music glossary

It can be hard to describe music. A lot of different words are used in varying contexts and it can be confusing. What does it all mean? Well wonder no more:

  • Experimental = we haven’t written any songs and are winging it
  • Lo-fi = we recorded these songs with shit microphones at a shit studio
  • Singer/songwriter = I am too rubbish and arrogant to join a band
  • Shoegazer = it should tell you something that we are most interested in footwear
  • Punk = we only know three chords
  • Epic widescreen indie rock = its like the plague: catchy but best avoided
  • Prog-rock = we believe that speed=emotion
  • Cock-rock = actually this one is self explanatory
  • Angular = we don’t have any melodies
  • Electro = we are attempting to justify the purchase of a synth that makes everything sound the same
  • Psychedelic = rubbish unless you are on drugs
  • Funky house = rubbish regardless of circumstance
  • Queen + Paul Rodgers = inexcusable
  • Nu-metal = the culmination of 10,000 years of civilization

Yes I am bored.

PHOTOS

We did a gig at the Water Rats recently and thanks to Vivek we have some photos of us to share.

We’re currently working on a big list of things which should be quite good when they are done. These include mostly writing new songs, finishing proper recordings of old songs, formulating a plan for world domination, chastising S Rook for not having watched any good films ever, providing constructive feedback on a forthcoming Burt Reynolds feature which sadly is mediocre at best, wondering if the Mercury panel just nominate Radiohead/Thom Yorke every time as a joke seeing that they will never actually win due to their global superstar status, actually wondering if all awards are shit especially Oscars for no reason in particular, booking some more gigs at some point in the near future and maybe doing something way sweet (so much so I probably can’t even mention it, especially seeing as it merely exists as a concept in the minds of about seven people at the moment) for releasing something. And some other things too.

NEW MUSIC

Aforementioned new recordings are nearly done. They are quite good. They will be somewhere soon. Reading that back, this seems both pointless and ambiguous, two qualities that are not traditionally associated with informative posts.

NEW VIDEO

At some point in the last few weeks our friend Karl put together a video for our song ‘Dance until the morning comes’ which is on facebook apparently and probably on youtube as well. I won’t bother putting a link as I don’t have one. But it is there. I have seen it. It is quite good. You should watch it!

‘Animals’ played on BBC 6 music

Whatevertimeofdayitisasyouarereadingthisappropriategreetings friend.

Just a quick big fat blogging to notate and comemorate the fact that we were played on BBC 6 RADIO last night (June 1st) by Tom Robinson on his show - HERE is the playlist - it will be on up the site still if you click on BBC6 RADIO above, we are on from around 12 mins to 15 mins, but I have ripped it for prosterity/prosperity and the recording is up on the player on our myspace - the tune he played was that song we do called ANIMALS and me and chris and charlotte wizzed up a special mix for inclusion in the show, the sonerous presenter Mr Robinson and also indulged in some witty rep-arrr-tay. Way sweet.
